This is an agility competition, which is open to Small, Medium, Intermediate and Large dogs in Grades 1 to 2. The qualifying heats and final will be judged under standard Kennel Club rules and regulations. The class can be either combined or graded 1 to 2. When the heat is a graded class, the results will be combined to identify who has qualified for the final. Any subsequent grade changes will not alter a dog’s eligibility to compete in the final. Competitors may enter more than one dog in a heat, and may qualify more than one dog for the final. Once a dog has qualified for the final, further heats may be entered by competitors, and any placings will not affect the dog’s eligibility to run in the final. The handler that qualifies the dog for the final will be the handler that competes in the final. A dog cannot qualify more than once, with a different handler.
The top 2 dogs from Small, Medium, Intermediate and Large will be invited to take part in the final. In the event that those placed 1st or 2nd have already qualified, the next partnership which has not qualified will be invited to the final in July.
In the event of a show that is due to hold a qualifier be cancelled, Granite City DAC may invite lower placed competitors to attend the Final as required.
The final will be an agility round, and will be held at Granite City DAC Show on Saturday 19th July 2025, after the rings have finished for the day.
It is the responsibility of participants to familiarise themselves with the rules on the Granite City DAC website.
The final for 2025 is kindly sponsored by Millie’s Paws & Hannah Paterson Photography.

The Primrose League is named in tribute to Prim, Kevin Parvin’s collie, one of the most promising dogs ever to run for the club.
Handlers should identify their club when entering the show. During each of the first 3 shows, points will be allocated to dogs placed from 1st to 10th place (non-elimination runs) for each class. Results will be recorded for dogs in Grade 1-3 (League A) and Grade 4-7 (League B).
In the event that a dog moves up grades, so that it is in grade 4-7, between the first show and the final, then the dog will move to League B, taking its points with it.
A dog can only run once in the Final, and must be run by a handler who has previously competed in one of the fun shows of the season ie a new handler cannot run a qualifying dog for the first time in the final.
The Final will be held at the last fun show of the season. The highest placed handler from League A and League B, for each club, will take part in a pairs run (agility or jumping, as decided by the judge). If a club does not have a combination in each of the Leagues, then they forfeit the right to take part in the final. The winning club will be presented with the Primrose League trophy, donated by Kevin Parvin, and the individual handlers are to be presented with a prize from our sponsors, Millie's Paws.
The Final will be on Sunday 2nd March 2025
This year’s judge is Don Coutts.
Primrose League Final- Pairs
This will consist of a jumping course, set up with a significant distance between start and finish line. All dogs jump at small height. A table(or chair) will be placed midway between start and finish, and a baton placed on it. The first combination will start the course in the normal way, and once they have completed the first two obstacles the second combination may move to the startline. When the first combination completes the final obstacle, that handler should, with their dog, move to the table with the baton on it. As soon as the first handler raises the baton, the second combination will start the course. The first combination (not sure if best to wait sitting at chair or leave ring). Once the second combination has completed the course, then both handlers and dogs leave the ring.
The timers are set to record the time when the final obstacle is taken for the second time, giving a combined time.
Faults are allocated in the normal way, with faults for either pair being applied to the combined run. If one of the pairs is eliminated, they score 100 faults and that is their total fault count for their section of the run. If both of the pairs are eliminated, the run will count as a normal elimination i.e. no placing or time will be given.
If both dogs are being run by one handler, then they should have someone wait with their second dog and hand it over at the startline, and another person to collect the first dog from the handler at the table, when the baton is raised. It is the handlers choice as to whether the dog is released as soon as the baton is raised, or when they reach their second dog.
