GCDAC organises weekly training sessions throughout the year. During the Summer months these sessions are held on Monday and Tuesday evenings, switching to a Sunday in the Winter months. Indoor training sessions are also held on Monday evenings during the winter at one of the local riding stables. These indoor sessions are generally for those members that are at a level where they are either beginning to or already taking part in competitions.

The club also runs a six week introductory course for those with young or inexperienced dogs and handlers. This course is designed to allow people to get a feel for Agility and see if it is something they would like to progress with.

Training sessions are run by club members who volunteer to help those newer members or members of a similar ability. The sessions are generally quite informal although typically involve practicing and fine tuning various aspects, such as contacts, weaves, 'pull throughs' etc. We currently have three separate training groups in addition to the six week introductory courses. Group 1 is for those dog/handlers who have just started out in Agility, Group 2 is for those who have grasped the basics and are approaching a level that would allow them to compete at an agility show and Group 3 for the more accomplished handler.

We do not offer what people may class as traditional 'Puppy Training' or 'Obedience classes'. Before joining the club we require that all dogs should possess the required social skills to be working around other dogs and handlers and have a basic level of obedience. We do not accept dogs with outwardly aggressive tendencies
